The Akai MPC came of age in 2012 with the MPC Renaissance, the first time this iconic instrument shipped as a MIDI controller with accompanying desktop software. I was brought into this project about 1 year before it shipped ostensibly to "get it to the finish line".
To do this I quickly hired 10 Berklee MPE students for testing, teaching them the Quality Assurance testing processes along the way. I also needed to better oganize the software development team as they were continuing to add feature after feature despite a hard ship date that was fast approaching. Fortunately everybody was on board with the task at hand. Version 1.0 shipped, albiet with bugs, but updates soon followed and today the MPC is a solid music making machine!
